About This Spot

Stepping into Kotobuki in Roslyn feels like discovering a quiet retreat tucked away from the rush of everyday life—a place where the calm lingers in the air and the rhythm slows just enough to truly savor the moment. The cozy, unpretentious setting invites a gentle unwinding, whether you choose to relax indoors or claim a seat on their serene outdoor patio that feels both private and welcoming.

The pace here is unhurried but lively, balanced by the warm attentiveness of the staff who make you feel more like a welcomed guest than a passing diner. Conversations move softly across tables as the kitchen quietly orchestrates fresh, thoughtful dishes that speak to sushi’s delicate craft and the comforting essence of traditional Japanese flavors.

Rather than a parade of options, the menu at Kotobuki embraces a curated experience: dishes arrive with a subtle craftsmanship that draws you in—the crispness of a perfectly seared bite, the delicate layering of fresh fish and creamy avocado, a carefully balanced drizzle of sauce that never overwhelms but elevates. It’s the kind of place where a specialty roll can feel like a little discovery of umami, and a bowl of ramen carries the quiet warmth of home after a long day.

Many who have found their way here return time and again, drawn not only by the vibrant quality of the food but by the genuine human moments woven throughout each visit. It’s a neighborhood gem where the familiar nods from staff and the gentle chatter of fellow diners create a subtle yet meaningful connection. In Kotobuki’s embrace, the simple joy of sharing good food and steady company makes every visit feel like coming home.

This is my favorite Japanese restaurant near my home, and I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been here. It’s always bustling with customers — a clear sign of how much people love this place. The servers are warm and friendly, and the dishes are fresh and delicious. Though it’s tucked away in an unremarkable corner, its popularity proves that good things never go unnoticed — guests just keep coming.

“Sushi left me... wanting more ” Dropped by Kotobuki in Roslyn and was not disappointed. The sushi was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated—crispy on the outside, creamy avocado on top, and just the right drizzle of sauce. The textures really hit that perfect balance. I went with one of their specialty rolls (as seen in the photo) and it was a bite-sized umami bomb. The vibe was cozy and casual, and the service was friendly without being overbearing. Minor drawback? The portions lean a little on the delicate side, so if you're hungry-hungry, be prepared to order a few rounds. But overall, this place left a lasting impression—and a little hole in my heart when the last roll disappeared.

Went for a dinner to catch up a friend and was very impressed with the selection and quality of the food provided here. I recommend any role served “roslyn” style and any specialty roll. Definitely coming back again!

Ever since 2021, I have been coming to Kotobuki Roslyn. Look - sometimes, when in the city, I’ll go to their Manhattan location - but it just isn’t the same! For starters, Kane works in Roslyn. If you ever have the pleasure of having him be your waiter, make sure to give him a big hello - he is the best. But so is the rest of the staff. When you go to Kotobuki, they treat you like family. There are so many great sushi options in the neighborhood. However, none of them compare to Kotobuki. It feels like home. The food is the best not just of any sushi restaurant nearby - it’s the best of any RESTAURANT nearby. Period! The crispy rice and spicy tuna has to be a bite of heaven, but I know the many vegetarians I have gone with have dreams about the Tofu Steak. Whether Beef Negimaki or Sushi Dinner is more your speed, wash it down with a Lychee Martini and take in the ambiance! I couldn’t recommend it enough. If you haven’t been already, make your way over NOW!!!

Kotobuki Roslyn has the kind of peaceful, relaxed vibe that makes you feel like you’re dining in your own cozy backyard—only better, because you’re being served fresh, high-quality food you are enjoy. The outdoor seating is quiet, perfect for unwinding. The service is friendly and attentive without ever feeling pushy. The sushi is always fresh, flavorful, and consistently excellent. This has become one of my go-to spots when I want a calm, satisfying meal without the hassle. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great sushi in a laid-back setting.

Nice spot, nice ambiance, music was appropriate. Nonetheless, the restaurant temperature was a little too cold, and my wife and I felt it. Friendly staff, and although it is a busy spot, it doesn't feel like crowed or tight. Extra points because of the patience of the waiters to the point that you don't even feel pressure or rushed. Food could have been a little better and warmer on the cooked rolls. Seafood was tasty and fresh. Will definitely check it out again.
